Organizational Context

The Department of Nuclear Energy (NE) fosters the efficient and safe use of nuclear power by supporting Member States in improving nuclear power plant performance, fuel cycles, and waste management. It also catalyzes innovation, develops indigenous capabilities, and advances science and industry. The Division of Nuclear Power, including the Nuclear Infrastructure Development Section, provides essential support for Member States introducing or expanding nuclear power programmes.

Job Purpose

As a Nuclear Programme Developer within the Nuclear Infrastructure Development Section, this role is crucial for managing and disseminating information on countries embarking on nuclear power programmes. The incumbent will develop and maintain databases of new nuclear projects, assist Member States in building their national nuclear infrastructure, and provide essential technical assistance. This position contributes directly to the IAEA's mandate of supporting the safe and sustainable introduction of nuclear power globally by enhancing Member States' capabilities and facilitating the adoption of internationally recognized approaches.

Responsibilities

The Nuclear Programme Developer will plan, develop, and implement an information management system to support IAEA activities related to countries introducing nuclear power. This includes planning and supporting technical and review missions to Member States, such as Integrated Nuclear Infrastructure Reviews (INIR), and assessing their specific needs. The role involves supporting technical cooperation projects, developing action plans, and organizing seminars, workshops, and training courses. Furthermore, the position requires building and maintaining strategic partnerships with stakeholders in Member States and communicating effectively through website maintenance, fact sheets, and informational materials, leveraging information technologies to foster networking.

Work Experience

A minimum of five years of experience in nuclear engineering is required. Experience working within a national or international nuclear organization or institute is desirable, as is proven experience in managing or coordinating international activities or projects.

Skills

Key skills include communication (clear, concise, impartial), achieving results, judgement and decision-making, partnership building, and technical/scientific credibility. Expertise in nuclear engineering infrastructure development, database management for country nuclear profiles, and developing integrated work plans is essential. Proficiency in developing communication tools for Member States is also required.
