Consultant - Knowledge Management and Outreach

Organizational Context

The IAEA's Division of Energy Planning, Information and Knowledge Management strengthens capacities in energy planning, nuclear knowledge management, and information services. The Nuclear Information Section (NIS) specifically fosters the exchange of scientific and technical information, preserves access to nuclear data, and supports Member States and the IAEA with information services and capacity building in information management.

Job Purpose

This role provides technical expertise to enhance the analysis of nuclear information services' impact and develop added-value services, such as research trends. It focuses on improving the outreach of the International Nuclear Information System (INIS) to key stakeholders, including academia, researchers, and operators. The primary goal is to strengthen knowledge sharing, ultimately improving the discoverability of nuclear information provided by INIS and supporting sustainable access to this vital data.

Responsibilities

The consultant will implement knowledge sharing and documentation practices within INIS and across the Agency, focusing on nuclear information retention and retrieval. Key duties include facilitating communication and outreach to promote INIS services to both internal and external stakeholders, gathering user feedback, and creating promotional materials. The role involves responding to user queries, identifying requested nuclear information, and guiding users on discoverability. Additionally, the consultant will organize knowledge sharing activities, training seminars, events, and meetings to foster collaboration and capacity building.

Work Experience

A minimum of four years of experience is required in knowledge management, managing institutional memory, communication and outreach, digital content curation, and projects related to information management and knowledge retention. Experience working in an international setting is also necessary.

Skills

Proficiency in Library and Information Systems, Electronic and Non-Electronic Communication, and Outreach strategies is essential. Excellent oral and written command of English is required.
