Organizational Context
The Department of Management provides essential services supporting the IAEA's scientific and technical programmes, acting as a business enabler for efficiency and change. The Division of Human Resources (MTHR) within this department is responsible for planning, acquiring, and managing human resources, delivering comprehensive HR services including talent acquisition, development, performance management, and compensation. MTHR supports a diverse workforce of approximately 2300 individuals.
Job Purpose
This internship offers enthusiastic students specializing in HR, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or International Relations the opportunity to gain practical experience within the Division of Human Resources. Interns will be assigned to various MTHR sections, such as HR Management (Business Partnering, Recruitment, Staff Relations), HR Services (Help Desk, Benefits), or HR Development (Learning, Policy, Gender, Analytics). Depending on programmatic needs, interns may also rotate between these areas, contributing to the division's functions while gaining exposure to the IAEA's HR operations and the broader United Nations system.
Responsibilities
Interns will conduct background research on HR matters, drawing from academic papers, best practices, and international organization policies. They will assist in developing promotional and outreach materials and coordinate activities to enhance awareness of HR areas. Responsibilities include responding to guidance requests, contributing to training design and facilitation, and supporting training administration. Interns will also prepare and edit drafts of HR reports, guidelines, and presentations, and may be tasked with analyzing HR data and Key Performance Indicators. Additional HR activities will be supported as assigned.
Work Experience
While not strictly required, experience in drafting documents and reports in English is beneficial. Experience in an international work environment or in Human Resources is highly desirable.
Skills
Proficiency in English (written and spoken) is essential. Fluency in another IAEA official language is an asset. Strong skills in Windows and MS Office, particularly PowerPoint, Excel, and MS Teams, are required. Ability to draft documents and reports is necessary.
