Job Purpose
The Mechanical Technician (Seals) is responsible for preparing metal and field verifiable passive seals used by Nuclear Safeguards Inspectors during verification activities. This involves precise fabrication, finishing, and documentation according to procedural guidelines. The role ensures the integrity and usability of critical sealing components. Additionally, the technician provides support to other mechanics with tasks such as handling raw or heavy materials, contributing to the overall operational efficiency of the Technical Support Team.
Responsibilities
The role involves the fabrication, finishing, and documentation of metal seals, including sourcing raw materials, assembling components via ultrasonic welding and soldering, and manually engraving unique signatures. It requires performing specialized cleaning, visual quality control, sorting, packing, and organizing for delivery. For field verifiable passive seals, the technician ensures precise fabrication by requesting templates, preparing engraving programs for laser systems, and operating laser engraving equipment. This also includes visual quality control, sorting, packing, recording, and organizing for delivery to the Vienna International Centre.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of two years of experience as a technician. Experience in operating mechanical and/or electronic equipment is essential for this role.
Skills
Proficiency in mechanical engineering, specifically in safely operating mechanical devices. Expertise in logging, tracking, and inventorying mechanical components. Knowledge of MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Strong communication, analytical thinking, client orientation, and resilience are also required.
