Organizational Context
The Department of Safeguards is responsible for the IAEA's global nuclear inspectorate mandate, supporting efforts to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons. This role operates within the Support Centre Team, contributing to the provision of essential equipment and logistical services to facilitate the Department's critical functions.
Job Purpose
The Logistics and Equipment Management Technician provides essential first-level support for client inquiries and routine service requests within the Support Centre Team. This role involves meticulous record-keeping using approved tools and databases for managing service requests, controlling inventory, and tracking equipment performance. Key functions include managing asset information, processing Low Value Purchasing requests, and supporting shipments, warehousing, and the preparation of necessary equipment and supplies to ensure operational continuity.
Responsibilities
The technician will manage the Front Desk, serving as the primary interface for equipment and supply distribution to departmental staff. Responsibilities include monitoring and processing service requests, particularly for inspection equipment and safety incidents, ensuring timely resolution. This involves performing asset registration, lifecycle management, and supporting verification activities. The role also encompasses administering Low Value Purchasing, processing travel arrangements, managing office space, and facilitating equipment clearances. Logistical duties include warehouse operations, procurement, goods receiving, quality checks, storage, distribution, and inventory control. Additionally, the technician will provide training and support to other teams and may execute routine shipments, prepare shipping documents, liaise with stakeholders, and validate service payments. Testing and preparing passive seals and removable media for safeguards use, along with receiving and reporting on passive seals, are also key duties. Manual handling of bulky items may be required.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of relevant work experience is required, preferably in an international setting, including customer service experience. Experience with asset management, database management, data retrieval applications, and document management is essential.
Skills
Proficiency in communication, achieving results, teamwork, planning, and organizing. Strong analytical thinking, client orientation, knowledge sharing, and resilience. Expertise in data management, IT help/service desk operations, inventory and supply management, and shipping logistics. Familiarity with industrial safety and hazardous materials is also noted.
