Information Technology Security Officer
Organizational Context
The Department of Nuclear Safety and Security (NS) leads the IAEA's nuclear safety and security program, protecting people and the environment. The Division of Nuclear Security (NSNS) implements this program, with the Information Management Section (INMA) focusing on collecting, analyzing, and disseminating nuclear security information. INMA manages critical databases and IT systems, and raises awareness about cyber-attack threats.
Job Purpose
The Information Technology Security Officer, under the Section Head's supervision and in coordination with Member States, will support the development and implementation of activities aimed at enhancing information and computer security within Member States' nuclear security regimes. This role is crucial for strengthening the international nuclear security framework by ensuring robust IT security practices are adopted and maintained, contributing directly to the Division's objectives and the IAEA's broader mandate.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include identifying, proposing, planning, and managing activities related to information and computer security within the NSNS. The officer will advise on, review, and revise internal policies and procedures to safeguard sensitive information. This includes leading the development of Nuclear Security Series guidance documents and drafting policy and technical documents. The role also involves conducting information and computer security assessments and advisory missions, developing and delivering training courses for Member States, and interacting with various internal and external stakeholders. The incumbent may work in areas with radioactive materials and must adhere to safety regulations.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of professional experience is required in software design and development for complex information systems, along with IT project management experience. Familiarity with the nuclear domain is considered an asset.
Skills
Proficiency in IT security standards, practices, and implementation of computer security controls. Expertise in information security, including classification and requirements for classified information. Experience with digital systems in nuclear power plants. Strong technical writing skills for guidance documents. Excellent English communication skills. Knowledge of IAEA Nuclear Security Series guidance is essential.
