Partnership and Resource Mobilization Specialist
Organizational Context
The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Representation in Oman collaborates with the Omani government and various national and international partners to advance sustainable agrifood systems, food security, nutrition, climate change adaptation, and natural resource management. The Partnership and Resource Mobilization Specialist will enhance FAO Oman's engagement with these partners, identifying and pursuing opportunities for collaboration and resource mobilization to support the implementation of FAO's programme priorities within the country.
Job Purpose
This role is dedicated to fostering partnerships, mobilizing resources, and engaging with donors to position FAO Oman's programmes effectively. It involves identifying and pursuing investment and funding opportunities through strategic engagement with diverse stakeholders. The specialist will play a key part in building and strengthening relationships with national and international entities to secure the necessary support for FAO's initiatives in Oman, ensuring alignment with national development goals and FAO's strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
The Partnership and Resource Mobilization Specialist will support the development and execution of FAO Oman's partnership and resource mobilization strategies, ensuring alignment with the Country Programming Framework and national priorities. Responsibilities include mapping and monitoring potential donors and partners, identifying and assessing funding opportunities, and maintaining an updated pipeline. The specialist will provide technical and operational support to FAO staff for record-keeping and follow-up on stakeholder interactions. This includes assisting programme teams in developing project ideas, concept notes, proposals, and funding requests. The role also involves compiling and analyzing information on partnership and financing opportunities, preparing briefing materials for meetings, and supporting the organization of donor and partner events. Maintaining records of activities and results, and coordinating with FAO-RNE and other relevant offices are also key duties.
Work Experience
A minimum of four years of professional experience is required, focusing on partnership development, resource mobilization, donor relations, programme or project development and management, and stakeholder engagement. Experience working with government institutions and national/international stakeholders is crucial. The candidate should also demonstrate experience in developing and following up on projects, partnerships, and resource mobilization opportunities.
Skills
Essential skills include strong results focus, teamwork, communication, and the ability to build effective relationships. Knowledge sharing and continuous improvement are also important. The role requires extensive experience in project/programme management and coordination, preferably in the agriculture or development sector. Proven experience working with government institutions and diverse stakeholders is necessary. Excellent stakeholder engagement, networking, negotiation, analytical, and communication skills are vital for success in this position.
