Facilitator
Organizational Context
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has established a Project Office in Ukraine to enhance technical and humanitarian aid for vulnerable rural communities. Since joining FAO in 2003, Ukraine has benefited from the Organization's focus on emergency response and agricultural development. Following the 2022 conflict, FAO intensified its support for agricultural production and food systems to safeguard food security for households and communities across the nation. This full-time position is based in Kharkiv.
Job Purpose
The Facilitator will ensure precise collection, verification, and distribution coordination of beneficiary data across the Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, and Kherson regions. This role involves close collaboration with local authorities, service providers, community leaders, and FAO teams. The Facilitator will support program phases focused on assisting rural households affected by war remnants and prioritizing areas for aid. Key responsibilities include identifying war-affected rural communities and assessing damage to their agricultural production in coordination with regional authorities.
Responsibilities
The Facilitator will manage data collection and beneficiary verification by preparing KOBO registration forms, identifying and training local focal points in Kharkiv oblast on data collection procedures, and conducting joint household identification with local authorities. The role includes overseeing focal points to ensure accurate and timely registration, and maintaining verified beneficiary records in KOBO. Stakeholder engagement involves organizing meetings to inform beneficiaries about program details and liaising with partners in Kharkiv region. The Facilitator will also oversee distribution events, conduct post-distribution monitoring, report irregularities, and promote FAO's Accountability to Affected Population (AAP) principles and PSEA standards. Administrative tasks include maintaining databases, supporting travel authorizations, and coordinating logistical arrangements for project activities, trainings, and workshops.
Work Experience
A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in partnerships, facilitation, and training activities is required. Experience with KOBO Toolbox or similar data collection software is an asset. Prior experience with UN agencies or international organizations is desirable.
Skills
Proficiency in results focus, teamwork, communication, building effective relationships, and knowledge sharing. Strong knowledge of interactive facilitation techniques is an asset. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with experience working with diverse groups. Familiarity with the international peace and/or human rights sector is beneficial. Experience with KOBO Toolbox or similar data collection software is an asset.
