Digital Communications and Content Specialist
Organizational Context
FAO in Viet Nam manages a significant programme focused on agrifood systems transformation, climate resilience, nutrition, One Health, fisheries, forests, and disaster risk reduction. The office is enhancing its communications to effectively showcase evidence, field results, and human interest stories to the public, policymakers, and donors. The current communications function is overseen by the Communications Specialist/Lead, under the guidance of the FAO Representative.
Job Purpose
This role complements the Communications Lead by establishing a consistent workflow for transforming programme evidence and field activities into Vietnamese-language public content. It aims to build the capacity of programme teams to contribute routine materials using approved tools and processes, moving beyond a social-media-exclusive focus. The position also serves as the office’s Youth Engagement Focal Point, operating under the strategic direction of the Communications Lead, to foster meaningful engagement with youth on agrifood topics.
Responsibilities
Manage the daily editorial calendar and publication process for FAO Viet Nam's Facebook and website, adhering to priorities and standards. Support major campaigns, events, and media activities by ensuring timely digital content. Develop engaging Vietnamese-language content, including social posts, web stories, short videos, infographics, and photo stories, derived from programme results and field materials. Conduct training for programme focal points on content creation tools like photography, video, design, and consent management. Coordinate field storytelling, ensuring accurate metadata and maintaining a digital asset library. Create practical bilingual templates and guidance to enable programme teams to contribute content independently. Regularly update and maintain the FAO Viet Nam website with accurate and relevant information. Monitor digital performance metrics and prepare insightful reports. Manage routine community engagement and escalate sensitive issues. Coordinate external production inputs from suppliers. Serve as the Youth Engagement Focal Point, liaising with relevant youth structures and coordinating the youth engagement calendar. Maintain a bilingual flow of opportunities for youth and manage online engagement, escalating concerns promptly. Develop youth-focused content streams and support programme teams in identifying and featuring credible youth voices. Document youth participation and provide regular updates on engagement, partnerships, and emerging opportunities.
Work Experience
Five years of relevant experience in digital communications, content production, and youth engagement. Experience with UN systems, creativity, and knowledge of agrifood systems are considered assets.
Skills
Proficiency in digital communications, content management, and production. Experience with social media platforms, visual content design, and web management. Strong organizational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. Experience in youth engagement and established networks with youth organizations. Ability to work effectively in evolving environments and establish communication processes. Working knowledge of English and Vietnamese is required.
