Job Purpose

The Human Resources Support, located in Asmara, Eritrea, plays a crucial role in coordinating and executing administrative tasks essential for the hiring of national and international affiliate workforce. Working in close collaboration with the Regional Human Resources Unit and other relevant HR units, the incumbent ensures all hiring processes strictly adhere to FAO's rules and regulations. This position is integral to the efficient functioning of the FAO Representation, supporting the overall HR operations and contributing to the successful implementation of the country program by ensuring timely and compliant recruitment of personnel.

Responsibilities

The Human Resources Support is responsible for managing the hiring plan for national and international affiliate workforce. This includes assisting in the preparation and review of Terms of Reference, ensuring compliance with standards, and supporting the publication of vacancy announcements to attract qualified candidates. The role involves organizing the selection process, coordinating interviews, and preparing evaluation reports. Additionally, the incumbent will process the complete cycle of contracts in the Global Resource Management System (GRMS), monitor contract validity, and support renewal or termination actions. Administrative support for consultant payments, performance evaluations, and maintaining confidentiality are key duties. The position also contributes to fostering a respectful work environment and knowledge exchange within the office.

Work Experience

A minimum of four years of related work experience is required, specifically in supporting administrative tasks within Human Resources management. This includes experience in clerical duties, program support, analyzing, processing, and editing information and data, as well as record-keeping. Experience with UN systems is considered an advantage.

Skills

Key skills include Results Focus, Teamwork, Communication, Building Effective Relationships, and Knowledge Sharing and Continuous Improvement. Proficiency in MS Office applications, internet usage, and office technology equipment is necessary. A working knowledge of English and the local language of Eritrea is also a requirement for this role.
