Job Purpose
The Field Project Specialist is tasked with overseeing the on-the-ground implementation and monitoring of FAO's emergency and livelihood support projects across different states. This involves adhering to FAO's established project implementation and monitoring systems to ensure activities align with project goals and timelines. The Specialist will be responsible for developing and submitting action plans to project coordinators, ensuring that field operations are effectively managed and contribute to the overall success of FAO's interventions in Sudan. The role requires a proactive approach to managing project activities and reporting progress.
Responsibilities
The Field Project Specialist will support various project assessments, including gender analysis and baseline surveys. They will lead the selection of implementing partners in coordination with FAO Khartoum staff and ensure the timely provision of project inputs according to Letters of Agreement (LoAs). A key responsibility is developing and executing project monitoring plans for each LoA, submitting regular reports, and implementing monitoring tools in collaboration with M&E officers. The Specialist will liaise with other organizations to share experiences and avoid duplication of efforts, and prepare comprehensive, evidence-based monitoring reports detailing project impacts on targeted communities. They will co-lead the Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL) sector at the state level, sharing information with stakeholders, and participate in inter-agency needs assessments. Additionally, the role involves collecting, analyzing, and updating relevant information on agriculture, livestock, environment, and food security in specific states, and performing other related tasks as assigned.
Work Experience
A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience is required in field-level project implementation, monitoring, and coordination. Experience in food security, livelihoods, agriculture, or livestock-related development or humanitarian activities is essential. Candidates should also possess a university degree in a relevant field such as Agriculture, Livestock, Natural Resource Management, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or Economics.
