Job Purpose
The Young Professional Officer (Climate Change and Natural Resources Management) will support the development and execution of FAO's climate change and natural resources management initiatives in Nepal. This role involves assisting project leads in managing adaptation, mitigation, and resilience interventions across FAO Nepal's agriculture, forestry, and sustainable natural resource management sectors. The position aligns with national government priorities and FAO Nepal's Country Programming Framework (2023-2027). Key responsibilities include conducting research, providing technical analysis, and delivering project-related services to ensure the successful implementation of assigned projects, products, and services.
Responsibilities
The Young Professional Officer will analyze technical, social, economic, environmental, and technological information and data for various documents. They will maintain records, update databases and web pages, and provide technical support to projects. Collaboration will be key in developing training materials and organizing workshops. The role involves participating in the organization and follow-up of meetings, consultations, and conferences, preparing necessary materials, and assisting partners. Specific functions include coordinating and implementing climate change-related programs and projects in agriculture, forestry, and natural resource management. The officer will support the preparation of concept notes and project proposals, including resource mobilization efforts. Monitoring project progress, tracking expenditures, and ensuring data quality in corporate systems are also essential. Furthermore, the role entails supporting partnership development with government agencies, UN bodies, NGOs, and the private sector, and assisting in organizing policy dialogues and consultation meetings. Contributing to stakeholder engagement and awareness-raising activities, including the preparation of communication materials, is also expected.
Work Experience
A minimum of one year of relevant professional experience in climate change adaptation, mitigation, natural resource management, or sustainable agriculture is required. Experience in project support, data analysis, or stakeholder engagement is desirable.

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information. Proficiency in data management and reporting is essential. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required for effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
