Communication Assistant
Organizational Context
The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Country Offices, led by an FAO Representative, are instrumental in assisting governments. Their primary goal is to support the development of policies, programs, and projects aimed at achieving food security and nutrition, reducing hunger and malnutrition, promoting sustainable agriculture, alleviating rural poverty, fostering inclusive agri-food systems, and enhancing livelihood resilience. Job Purpose
The Communication Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting FAO's projects by substantially contributing to the creation of essential written outputs. A key responsibility will be the documentation of project success stories, effectively capturing and articulating the positive impact and achievements of FAO's initiatives. This involves translating project outcomes into compelling narratives that highlight the benefits to beneficiaries and stakeholders. The role is designed to enhance the visibility and understanding of FAO's work in Egypt through well-crafted communication materials that align with organizational standards and objectives.
Responsibilities
The Communication Assistant is responsible for documenting compelling success stories that vividly illustrate the impact of FAO projects on beneficiaries. This involves conducting interviews with beneficiaries, project staff, and other relevant stakeholders to gather detailed information. The incumbent will develop these success stories into engaging narratives suitable for diverse platforms, including the FAO website, social media channels, newsletters, and official reports. Where feasible, the assistant will collect photographs to accompany the success stories or coordinate with FAO's photographer/videographer. Adherence to FAO's communication standards and guidelines is mandatory, ensuring all materials align with OCC standards, messaging, and clearance processes. This includes compliance with the FAO Strategic Framework, social media policies, branding guidelines, FAOSTYLE, FAO terminology, and country name conventions.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of relevant professional experience is required in Journalism, Communication, or advocacy related to programs and projects. This experience should demonstrate a strong ability to document and communicate project impacts effectively.
Skills
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong competencies in Results Focus, Teamwork, Communication, Building Effective Relationships, and Knowledge Sharing and Continuous Improvement.
