Organizational Context

Job Purpose
The Young Professional Officer (Finance) will support the Finance Division in its mission by contributing to financial oversight, reporting, and analysis. This role involves conducting research, providing technical analysis, and delivering project-related services to support the division's objectives. The incumbent will analyze financial and investment data to inform decision-making, assist in developing improved work methods and procedures, and participate in special project teams, thereby contributing to the efficient and effective financial management of the organization.
Responsibilities
The Young Professional Officer (Finance) will be responsible for collecting, reviewing for accuracy, and analyzing financial information and internal financial controls to support various financial services and activities. This includes analyzing financial and investment data to aid in financial decision-making. The role also involves participating in the development of improved work methods and procedures and contributing to special project teams. Additionally, the incumbent will analyze relevant technical, social, economic, environmental, and technology information, data, and statistics for various documents, maintain records, update databases and web pages, and provide technical support to projects. Collaboration in developing training tools and organizing workshops, as well as assisting in the organization and follow-up of meetings and consultations, are also key functions.
Work Experience
One year of relevant experience in accounting, finance, investments, or a related field is required. Experience in more than one location or area of work, particularly in field positions, is desirable.
Skills
The role requires strong analytical skills in finance, accounting, and investments. Proficiency in English (Level C) and intermediate knowledge of another FAO official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) are essential. Competencies include Results Focus, Teamwork, Communication, Building Effective Relationships, and Knowledge Sharing and Continuous Improvement. Experience in diverse work locations, especially field positions, is considered an asset.
