Organizational Context
The Fisheries and Aquaculture Division (NFI) addresses the economic, social, institutional, governance, and policy aspects of fisheries and aquaculture development. Job Purpose
The Young Professional Officer (Aquatic Value Chain) will contribute to sustainable aquaculture value chain development. Key results include providing research, technical analysis, and project support. The role involves analyzing social, economic, environmental, and technological information, maintaining databases, and offering technical assistance to projects. Collaboration on training materials, workshops, and participation in meetings and consultations are essential. The position supports the formulation and implementation of policy guidelines for sustainable aquaculture value chains within the Blue Transformation framework, contributing to project proposals and knowledge product development.
Responsibilities
The Young Professional Officer will support the formulation, interpretation, and implementation of policy guidelines and best practices for sustainable aquaculture value chains under the Blue Transformation initiative. This includes assisting with meetings, expert workshops, and consultations with governmental and non-governmental representatives on policy dialogues. The role involves contributing to the development of project proposals, focusing on sustainable aquaculture value chains, and adhering to technical guidelines. Providing technical support and advisory services for project implementation, establishing and maintaining online knowledge platforms, and developing communication materials are key functions. The officer will also contribute to organizing technical workshops, developing and disseminating knowledge products, and designing capacity development interventions for stakeholders. Support for pilot country processes and analysis of global fish trade and market dynamics are also expected.
Work Experience
A minimum of one year of relevant professional experience in fisheries, aquaculture, value chain development, or a related field is required. Experience in international development or project support is desirable.
Skills
Proficiency in analyzing technical, social, economic, and environmental data is essential. Experience in project support, database management, and web content maintenance is necessary. Strong communication and collaboration skills are required for developing training materials and organizing workshops. Familiarity with policy formulation and implementation related to sustainable aquaculture value chains and the Blue Transformation framework is advantageous. Ability to contribute to knowledge product development and capacity building initiatives is also important.
