Job Purpose
The National Videographer/Producer will document FAO's work in Timor-Leste, focusing on Drought Anticipatory Action interventions and best practices through film and photography. The role involves capturing footage of program progress, including farmer resilience-building activities, livelihood diversification, and recovery efforts. The incumbent will travel with FAO staff to cover field activities, conduct beneficiary interviews, and document training sessions. Outputs will highlight FAO's impact and results, with a specific emphasis on beneficiaries' anticipatory actions and rehabilitation efforts, contributing to the strategic objective of increasing livelihood resilience through early warning and anticipatory actions.
Responsibilities
Document FAO's drought anticipatory action initiatives through high-quality film footage and photographs, showcasing best practices, past results, and current interventions. Capture visual evidence of program progress, including farmer training, capacity-building activities, livelihood diversification, and resilience-building against natural disasters. Travel to selected municipalities with FAO staff to cover field activities, conduct beneficiary interviews, and document workshops. Save and submit raw footage, audio files, and edited outputs in agreed formats, adhering to FAO's Photo Library production standards. Translate video subtitles into English, clearly identify locations, and provide context for the audience. Ensure respect for local customs and subject privacy. Liaise with the Office of Communications (OCC) for distribution, publication, and quality assurance of video products, ensuring compliance with FAO's communication, branding, and style guidelines. Undertake related responsibilities to achieve target outputs and contribute to FAO's visibility.
Work Experience
At least three years of relevant professional experience in videography, photography, video production, and/or post-production. Demonstrated experience producing communication materials for organizations, development projects, media, or NGOs. Ability to provide own professional camera and basic production equipment is required.
Skills
Proven expertise in videography, photography, video production, and post-production. Ability to develop compelling visual storylines and capture human-interest stories in community settings. Strong skills in camera operation, lighting, audio recording, and video/photo editing software. Capacity to produce videos, photos, captions, and subtitles suitable for web and social media. Good understanding of communication, reporting, and FAO visibility/branding standards. Ability to work independently, travel to the field, and meet deadlines. Good knowledge of Timor-Leste's local context, customs, and protocols.
