Organizational Context
The FAO Subregional Office for the Pacific (SAP), established in 1996 in Samoa, acts as the technical hub for FAO's diverse initiatives across 14 Pacific Island Countries. SAP focuses on transforming agrifood systems, enhancing food security and nutrition, and promoting sustainable agriculture, fisheries, forestry, rural development, and climate resilience. In 2026, FAO and Vanuatu will co-host the Pacific SIDS Solutions Forum, a key platform under the Four Betters framework, convening leaders from government, development, private sector, youth, and women's groups.
Job Purpose
The Senior Videographer/Photographer will deliver high-quality visual content to document the impact of FAO's regional projects and provide comprehensive media coverage for the 2026 Pacific SIDS Solutions Forum. This role encompasses end-to-end video production, from concept development and scripting to final editing, alongside archival research and field-based story capture. The incumbent will also be responsible for high-level event photography, rapid media delivery, and dedicated coverage of VIPs and senior leadership throughout the Forum, ensuring compelling visual narratives that align with FAO's strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
The Senior Videographer/Photographer will develop detailed production workplans, including shot lists and filming schedules, and conceptualize, script, and produce high-quality videos (3-4 minutes) aligned with FAO's Four Betters framework. This includes creating content for strategic series, flagship initiatives, and promotional materials, as well as undertaking archival research and post-production editing. The role involves capturing interviews with diverse stakeholders, producing short-form social media content, and coordinating closely with the Office of Communications (OCC) for technical review and approvals. Additionally, the incumbent will provide dedicated photography and videography for senior leadership and VIPs during the Forum, ensuring continuous event coverage, rapid same-day editing of priority photos, and comprehensive documentation of all sessions and activities. Field missions will be undertaken to capture human-interest stories and thematic visuals, delivering organized b-roll packages. Ensuring informed consent, maintaining structured archives with metadata, and complying with FAO's technical, branding, and archival requirements are critical.
Work Experience
Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in photography, videography, multimedia content production, and visual storytelling.
Skills
Proficiency in video and photography production, editing, and storytelling. Ability to conceptualize and execute visual content aligned with strategic frameworks. Experience in high-level event coverage and VIP documentation. Skills in social media content creation and rapid media delivery. Strong communication, interpersonal, and liaison abilities for working with diverse stakeholders. Demonstrated writing and critical analysis skills. Ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural environments. Efficiency, competence, integrity, tact, and diplomacy are essential.
