Organizational Context
The FAO Representation in Georgia aims to assist the government in developing policies, programs, and projects to achieve food security, reduce hunger and malnutrition, and promote sustainable agricultural, fisheries, and forestry sectors. This role operates within the framework of the FAO country office, contributing to national development goals.
Job Purpose
This assignment focuses on supporting the 'Inclusive Rural Development and Sustainable Agriculture' project (GCP/GEO/031/AUS, 2023-2027). The objective is to contribute to the implementation of Georgia's Agriculture and Rural Development Strategy 2021-2027 by enhancing agricultural competitiveness and ensuring greater inclusiveness in rural development policies. The role is crucial for bridging project activities with national strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
The incumbent will provide on-the-ground support for project implementation, coordinating activities in target communities and liaising with local municipal focal points. Responsibilities include supporting project missions by organizing meetings, managing logistics, and performing secretarial tasks. The role involves disseminating project information, assisting with small-scale investment and community support schemes through data collection and outreach, and supporting monitoring activities. Additionally, the position will aid in reviewing Community Development Action Plans, preparing for trainings and workshops, coordinating activities with the Georgian Farmers’ Association, and ensuring the integration of gender, youth, and social inclusion elements into field activities.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience is required, specifically in areas such as agriculture, rural development, project coordination, or field monitoring at the national level. Experience working with rural communities and farmers, in multi-disciplinary teams, and on large-scale development projects is highly desirable.
Skills
Essential skills include results focus, teamwork, communication, building effective relationships, and knowledge sharing. Technical skills encompass knowledge of agricultural production methods and a good understanding of farmers' basic production conditions. Proven experience in mobilizing and working with rural communities and farmers is crucial. Additional desirable skills include experience with international organizations, government agencies, and development partners, along with strong communication, negotiation, and leadership abilities.
