Technical Assistant
Organizational Context
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is a specialized agency dedicated to achieving food security for all and leading international efforts to defeat hunger. Job Purpose
The Technical Assistant will support the FAO Philippines Country Programming Framework, specifically within the Anticipatory Action and Livelihood Restoration Programme. This role is crucial for providing technical assistance in coordinating and implementing projects aimed at enhancing anticipatory action and restoring livelihoods. The position requires active participation in project activities, ensuring smooth operations, and contributing to the overall success of the programme by facilitating effective collaboration among stakeholders and supporting timely delivery of project outputs.
Responsibilities
Support project coordination and implementation by assisting in the preparation and tracking of workplans, activity schedules, and implementation matrices. Coordinate with project teams, specialists, partners, and FAO personnel to consolidate updates, monitor progress, and address implementation issues. Provide day-to-day support by tracking pending actions and deliverables. Assist in organizing and conducting meetings, workshops, trainings, and field activities, including preparing necessary documentation and logistical arrangements. Support stakeholder engagement with government counterparts, implementing partners, and local communities. Document project activities, field experiences, and community practices for knowledge sharing. Maintain organized repositories of project documents and resources. Assist in maintaining monitoring tools and data management systems. Prepare project progress updates and contribute to reporting requirements. Support the documentation and verification of activity outputs for reporting and audit purposes. Assist in monitoring project fund utilization and budget-related information. Draft and format official correspondence and communication documents.
Work Experience
At least 5 years of relevant experience providing technical support in climate change, agriculture, or humanitarian projects, preferably within development or related UN projects.
Skills
Results Focus, Teamwork, Communication, Building Effective Relationships, Knowledge Sharing and Continuous Improvement. Ability to work under pressure in complex humanitarian contexts and with diverse teams. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Filipino. Willingness to travel to project sites. Intermediate to advanced computer skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
