Organizational Context
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Pakistan aims to assist the government in achieving food security and reducing hunger. Job Purpose
The Security Support position in Quetta, Pakistan, is designed to provide essential operational support and expert advice to the International Project Manager (IPM) of FAO. The primary focus is on addressing safety and security-related matters within the Balochistan region. This role is critical for ensuring the well-being of personnel and the protection of assets amidst a challenging security landscape, thereby enabling the effective continuation of FAO's development and humanitarian operations in the area.
Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and review Security Management Plans for FAO operations in Balochistan, coordinating with the IPM, UNDSS, and stakeholders. Conduct security risk assessments for programme locations, offices, and field activities, recommending mitigation measures. Monitor compliance with security policies and procedures, following up on corrective actions. Update security Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), travel security measures, contingency, evacuation, and emergency response plans. Provide timely security advisories, threat assessments, and contextual analysis. Establish and maintain relationships with UNDSS, government authorities, law enforcement, and local communities. Collect, analyse, and disseminate security information, maintaining information networks. Advise programme managers and field teams on security matters, supporting risk mitigation through training. Conduct security assessments for operational areas and develop security frameworks. Maintain incident reporting and security information management systems. Deliver security briefings and inductions. Support medical evacuation plans, emergency communication, and business continuity. Ensure the Warden System is effective and updated. Support provincial and district teams in security arrangements. Participate in security coordination meetings. Prepare periodic security reports and recommendations.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience is required, preferably gained within a law enforcement agency (Police) or a UN Security Management System (UNSMS) security role. This experience should align with the responsibilities of ensuring safety and security in operational environments.
