FAO Kenya is actively supporting the Government of Kenya in digitalizing the agriculture sector and leveraging data for decision-making. To enhance its internal technical capacity, FAO Kenya seeks a qualified Disability Inclusion Facilitator.
Job Purpose
The Disability Inclusion Facilitator will provide essential technical support to integrate disability inclusion principles within the CASHA project. This role is crucial for championing equitable access to opportunities, resources, and benefits for persons with disabilities, ensuring their full and meaningful participation in all project activities and outcomes. The facilitator will work to remove barriers and promote an inclusive environment.
Responsibilities
The Disability Inclusion Facilitator will identify and address physical, communication, attitudinal, and institutional barriers hindering the participation of young people with disabilities in CASHA activities. Responsibilities include ensuring training venues, materials, and approaches are accessible and inclusive, and providing direct support for the safe, dignified, and equitable participation of youth with disabilities. This involves facilitating reasonable accommodation measures, conducting accessibility assessments, and developing practical recommendations for improvement. The role also includes building the capacity of project staff and partners on disability inclusion, developing inclusive participation strategies, and contributing to improved programme outcomes through systematic integration of disability inclusion across all project phases.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of progressive work experience is required, specifically in working with persons with disabilities or in inclusion-focused programming. This experience should demonstrate a strong understanding of disability inclusion principles and practical application in project settings. Experience in a related field is also considered.
Skills
Key skills include results focus, teamwork, communication, and building effective relationships. The role requires knowledge sharing and continuous improvement capabilities, proficiency in conducting accessibility assessments and reporting, and familiarity with safeguarding principles and confidential case handling. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with a strong understanding of disability rights, accessibility standards, and reasonable accommodation.
