Organizational Context

Job Purpose
The Information Technology Assistant plays a crucial role in coordinating and performing all IT support functions within the FAO Representation in Djibouti. This role ensures the quality, transparency, and consistency of IT service delivery, adhering to established procedures and service level agreements. The incumbent is responsible for providing first and second-level support to users, managing IT infrastructure, and advising on IT equipment and software. The position contributes significantly to the overall execution of IT services, supporting the organizational unit's mission.
Responsibilities
The Information Technology Assistant will receive and log all user requests via the Service Desk system. They will provide first and second-level assistance to resolve issues with applications, hardware, software, and peripherals, liaising with the Digital and Agro-informatics Division for complex problems. Responsibilities include assisting with web publishing and content production, setting up and configuring hardware and software, and implementing data backup procedures. The role involves ensuring user access to IT infrastructure, managing shared drives and email folders, and troubleshooting office equipment. Additionally, the Assistant will advise staff on IT choices, conduct market research for equipment, assist with IT procurement planning, and manage the office's IT inventory and software licenses. They will also provide user training and contribute to the IT knowledge base, and assist with audiovisual equipment setup for presentations.
Work Experience
A minimum of four years of relevant experience in IT support is required. Experience in network IT and IT equipment support is essential. Experience with MS Office and Microsoft 365 is also necessary.
Skills
Proficiency in MS Office and Microsoft 365 suite, installation and configuration of systems, internet, and office technology equipment. Strong skills in network IT and IT equipment support. Ability to troubleshoot IT-related problems effectively. Knowledge of IT infrastructure and IT governance policies and procedures. Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build constructive relationships. Results-oriented approach and a commitment to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement. Fluency in French is required; working knowledge of English is an asset.
