Organizational Context
The FAO Regional Office plays a key role in coordinating with National FAO Representations across 32 countries in the region. It oversees the implementation of regional projects and provides technical support to governments and institutions. This work directly contributes to Sustainable Development Goals 1 (No Poverty), 2 (Zero Hunger), and 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and broadly supports the achievement of the 2030 Agenda. Job Purpose
This vacancy aims to establish a regional roster of pre-selected professionals for future PSA.EDI contracts in editorial design. Inclusion in the roster does not guarantee employment, as future assignments will depend on operational needs and budget availability. The Graphic and Editorial Designer will report to the FAO Regional Communications Officer. The role involves creating a variety of design products, ensuring they effectively communicate messages while adhering to FAO's visual identity and branding guidelines. The designer will collaborate with editors and stakeholders to meet audience needs and deliver high-quality, impactful visual materials.
Responsibilities
The Graphic and Editorial Designer will be responsible for designing publications, brochures, infographics, presentations, interactive reports, and other editorial design products using professional design software. Key tasks include creating functional and clear templates that convey messages without obscuring content, identifying and developing appropriate overall design and layout for each product type, and collaborating with editors to ensure designs meet the needs of the intended audience from technical, professional, and cultural perspectives. The designer must ensure compliance with FAO's institutional visual identity and branding guidelines. They will present design proposals for final supervisor approval and conduct three rounds of corrections after quality reviews by OCC/PWS and the division. Additional correction rounds may be required if previously identified corrections are omitted.
Work Experience
Two years of experience in editorial design, layout, and graphic development of institutional publications, reports, brochures, digital assets, or communication materials. Proven experience applying editorial guidelines and corporate styles is necessary. Advanced proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop, along with knowledge of Acrobat Pro for print and digital file preparation, is required.

Experience with international organizations, cooperation agencies, the public sector, or academia is advantageous. Multilingual layout experience and familiarity with FAO visual guidelines are also beneficial.
