The Office of the Inspector General (OIG) provides oversight of FAO's programmes and operations through internal audit and investigation. The Internal Audit Branch conducts assurance and advisory activities to improve operations by evaluating risk management, control, and governance processes, adhering to international professional standards. The Investigations Branch handles allegations of misconduct and sanctionable actions. OIG seeks candidates for short-term assignments to support the Internal Audit and Investigation Branches in developing and maintaining advanced IT solutions.
Job Purpose
The primary purpose of this role is to develop, implement, and maintain IT solutions leveraging Python, Large Language Models (LLMs), and Azure Cloud infrastructure. These solutions are intended to enhance the efficiency of internal audit and investigation processes and provide data-driven insights. The specialist will contribute to innovation projects, ensuring solutions are aligned with FAO policies and project requirements, ultimately supporting the OIG's mission of effective oversight and operational improvement through advanced technology.
Responsibilities
The role involves developing high-quality, maintainable code modules for IT solutions. Key responsibilities include assisting in the implementation of knowledge management solutions using LLM-based architectures like RAG, and contributing to containerization and deployment activities on Azure Cloud or local servers using tools such as Docker. The specialist will also support the creation of technical documentation, user manuals, and training materials for auditors and investigators. Additionally, they will help implement security and scalability measures for IT solutions handling sensitive data and perform other related duties as required to support audit and investigation innovation projects.
Work Experience
A minimum of one year of experience is required in software development, computer engineering, or AI solution architecture. Experience within an internal audit or investigation context is preferred. Candidates must possess a university degree or equivalent technical specialization in a relevant field such as computer science or information systems.
Skills
Essential skills include advanced knowledge of Python and AI development frameworks (e.g., LangChain, OpenAI API, FastAPI), proven experience with containerization and application deployment lifecycles, and an understanding of IT security and data privacy in cloud environments. The ability to conduct technical research, evaluate new technologies, identify technical bottlenecks, and explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders is crucial. Practical experience with Azure Cloud infrastructure, RAG, and LLMs is desirable. Knowledge of investigation, auditing, or risk management is also beneficial.
