Logistics Support
Organizational Context
The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) country offices, led by the FAO Representative, aim to support governments in developing policies, programs, and projects to enhance food security, reduce hunger and malnutrition, and promote sustainable agricultural, fisheries, and forestry sectors. This position is at the SB3 SC6 level within the FAO Representation in Pakistan.
Job Purpose
This role is responsible for the planning, execution, and control of procured supplies and movements. This includes warehousing, transportation, distribution, and personnel/material deployment. The objective is to effectively achieve the goals of campaign plans, project implementations, and other strategic initiatives by ensuring the efficient flow of resources and materials throughout the supply chain.
Responsibilities
The incumbent will track and trace all procured goods, managing local and international deliveries to FAO warehouses or designated sites, providing real-time status updates. Responsibilities include stock management and control of supplies, particularly in specialized conditions like cold chain storage for animal vaccines, adhering to FAO guidelines. The role involves managing logistics for receiving, issuing, and distributing agricultural inputs and assets, arranging cost-effective transportation to end-users in collaboration with field teams. Continuous coordination with field logistics offices is required for supply movement updates and reporting. Maintaining familiarity with legal compliance for imports, exports, customs, and tax exemptions is crucial. The position entails preparing administrative documentation for international shipments, managing shipments through clear communication with agents and handlers, and developing transportation plans for last-mile deliveries. Ensuring efficient goods and personnel movement, supporting fleet management, and maintaining accurate filing of all logistics documents for audit purposes are key duties. The role also involves updating inventory records, preparing periodic inventory reports, collaborating with other units for comprehensive project support, and leading the review and update of logistics and supply chain SOPs. Ad hoc logistic and supply chain tasks as assigned are also expected.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of field experience in Logistics and Supply Chain Management and transport management settings is required. Proficiency in English at level C is also necessary.

Essential technical skills involve a good understanding of Logistics and Supply Chain Management, including procurement, stock management, warehousing (especially temperature-controlled), transportation, and distribution. Knowledge of UN administrative policies and procedures, strong communication and reporting standards, and sourcing within procurement are necessary. The role requires strong research skills, initiative, responsibility, and the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.
