The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in collaboration with the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Country Planning (MLHCP) and financed by the World Bank, is implementing the project “Innovative Solutions for Land Dispute Resolution in Sierra Leone”. This project aims to strengthen women's land rights, improve land dispute resolution systems, and promote inclusive land governance. It involves numerous stakeholders and requires strict adherence to FAO and World Bank fiduciary, administrative, and reporting requirements.
Job Purpose
The incumbent will spearhead the project's knowledge management, communication, and visibility efforts. This involves ensuring the effective dissemination of project outcomes and lessons learned, maintaining compliance with FAO and World Bank visibility guidelines, and developing and managing digital platforms and communication tools. A key aspect of this role is to foster strengthened stakeholder engagement and facilitate robust information sharing throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring project activities and achievements are effectively communicated to all relevant parties.
Responsibilities
The role encompasses comprehensive website development and management, including designing, developing, and maintaining a user-friendly, mobile-responsive project website optimized for low-bandwidth environments. This includes regularly updating content, monitoring performance, and ensuring compliance with FAO and World Bank branding. The incumbent will develop and implement a knowledge management and communication strategy, producing various communication materials such as briefs, newsletters, infographics, press releases, and case studies. An online resource hub for project documents will be established and maintained. Visibility and outreach activities include coordinating media coverage, developing success stories, supporting branding at events, and managing social media. Stakeholder engagement involves facilitating information dissemination and supporting communication aspects of the Grievance Redress Mechanism. The role also requires providing regular updates, contributing to progress reports, coordinating messaging with relevant teams, and training staff and partners on communication and content management.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in communication, knowledge management, or digital media is necessary. Experience working on donor-funded or international development projects is highly desirable.
Skills
Essential skills include strong capabilities in website development (e.g., WordPress, Drupal, Joomla) and content management systems (CMS). The candidate must have experience in communication strategy development and implementation, knowledge of FAO/World Bank visibility and branding guidelines, and the ability to produce gender-sensitive and inclusive communication materials. Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills are crucial. Proficiency in English is required, with knowledge of Krio or other local languages being an advantage. Experience with FAO, UN, or World Bank-funded projects is considered an asset.
