Job Purpose
The National OCOP Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of the project within Egypt. This involves providing essential coordination, delivering technical inputs, facilitating capacity-building initiatives, and contributing significantly to the project's analytical, planning, and reporting functions. The specialist will work to ensure the effective execution of project activities and the achievement of its objectives, acting as a key liaison between project stakeholders and FAO's operational framework in the country.
Responsibilities
The National OCOP Specialist will support the organization and participation in the project inception workshop, engaging stakeholders to clarify objectives and validate implementation plans. Responsibilities include contributing to the development of detailed work plans, establishing the OCOP Coordination Mechanism through a National Task Force, and liaising with international consultants for value chain analysis. The specialist will prepare training materials, organize and conduct training sessions on sustainable SAP production for various actors, and assist in developing national strategies, guidelines, and standards for SAP development. Additionally, the role involves formulating concept notes and proposals for resource mobilization, undertaking field missions, participating in project workshops and policy dialogues, preparing monthly activity reports, and contributing to the project's terminal report.
Work Experience
Requires a university degree in Agriculture or a related field from an IAU/UNESCO recognized institution. A minimum of three years of experience is needed in training, sustainable plant production, and project coordination. Proficiency in English and Arabic at a working level (C) is essential. The candidate must be a national of Egypt.
Skills
Key competencies include Results Focus, Teamwork, Communication, Building Effective Relationships, and Knowledge Sharing and Continuous Improvement. Experience with green production of selected SAP in the project country is considered an asset.
