Job Purpose
The Communications Specialist will be instrumental in implementing the ADAPT Jamaica project by leading the development and execution of its outreach and communication strategy. This involves significantly enhancing the visibility of project activities, achievements, and lessons learned. The role requires creating high-quality communication materials, including digital content, print media, social media updates, and multimedia outputs. A key responsibility is ensuring all communications adhere to FAO and GCF standards, effectively promote climate resilience and sustainable agriculture, and disseminate project outcomes to a diverse audience, including beneficiaries, partners, donors, and international stakeholders.
Responsibilities
The Communications Specialist will design, implement, and update the project's communication strategy, conducting stakeholder analysis and developing targeted messages and outreach products. Responsibilities include creating and editing diverse communication content for various audiences, drafting web notes, press articles, and social media posts, and documenting success stories and case studies. The role involves designing digital communication tools, coordinating communication efforts with project stakeholders to foster knowledge sharing and behavioral change, and supervising the production of outreach materials. The Specialist will support event organization and media coverage, maintain a communication product database, and build the capacity of local communication focal points. Additionally, the role includes facilitating results sharing with beneficiaries, providing communication reports, developing a final multimedia package, assisting the FAO Jamaica Office with related events, attending coordination meetings, ensuring FAO's visibility, and monitoring media outreach. Social media content management and coordination with OCC/RCO for clearances are also key duties.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of relevant professional experience is necessary. This experience should include generating communication content in various formats for different audiences, with a focus on scientific, technical, or environmental dissemination.
Skills
Essential skills include strong results focus, teamwork, effective communication, and relationship-building abilities. The candidate should demonstrate proficiency in knowledge sharing and continuous improvement. Technical skills required encompass experience with video, photography, and audio equipment, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), and expertise in graphic design tools like Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Experience with various audio, video, and photography formats is also necessary.
