National Project Coordinator
Organizational Context
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) supports the transformation to efficient, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable agrifood systems to improve production, nutrition, the environment, and livelihoods. FAO's vision is a world where food is accessible and natural resources are managed sustainably. FAO Country Offices assist governments in developing policies and projects to achieve food security, reduce hunger, and promote sustainable use of natural resources. The Angola Country Programming Framework focuses on Food Systems, Family Farming, Natural Resources Management, and Resilience, operationalized through 20 projects.
Job Purpose
The National Project Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day management, coordination, and implementation of the "Strengthened Capacity Building for Artisanal Fishery Value Chain Actors in the Blue Economy Sector" project. This role involves overseeing operational and technical aspects to ensure timely delivery of outputs and efficient resource utilization. The coordinator will also support the development and implementation of fisheries, aquaculture, and blue economy actions within the project's portfolio, aligning with FAO rules and national priorities. Effective liaison with national institutions and FAO technical teams is crucial for project success.
Responsibilities
Manage and coordinate the "Strengthened Capacity Building for Artisanal Fishery Value Chain Actors in the Blue Economy Sector" project, ensuring alignment with FAO rules and national priorities. Oversee operational and technical aspects, guaranteeing timely output delivery, efficient resource use, and stakeholder coordination. Liaise with FAO fisheries and aquaculture consultants at various levels for coherence and consistency. Facilitate communication with MINPERMAR and other national institutions. Support the FAO Representation in preparing and editing project documents, reports, and communication materials. Collect and share data on artisanal fisheries, the blue economy, and value chain activities. Plan and coordinate project activities with technical officers, providing monitoring and support. Facilitate capacity-building activities like training sessions and workshops. Coordinate and monitor project consultants, service providers, and staff, ensuring quality and adherence to timelines. Assist in managing Letters of Agreement and contracts. Support the preparation of work plans, budgets, and progress reports. Ensure project visibility and communication of achievements, contributing to knowledge sharing and best practices.
Work Experience
At least seven years of relevant professional experience in project coordination, fisheries management, or capacity development within the blue economy or related sectors. Working knowledge of English and Portuguese (Level C) is necessary.

Results Focus, Teamwork, Communication, Building Effective Relationships, Knowledge Sharing and Continuous Improvement. Solid background in fisheries, natural resources, and environment in Angola. Proven experience working with government institutions, development partners, fisheries communities, and international organizations. Familiarity with UN programmes/projects is an advantage.
