Job Purpose
The primary purpose of this volunteer role is to contribute to FAO's mission by undertaking assignments within fields directly relevant to the organization's work. Volunteers will be integrated into specific projects or departments, providing support and gaining practical experience. This role is designed to leverage volunteer contributions to advance FAO's strategic objectives, including the transformation of agri-food systems for better production, nutrition, environment, and overall quality of life, ensuring that no one is left behind in the global effort to end hunger and malnutrition.
Responsibilities
The volunteer will be responsible for performing specific functions as detailed in the Terms of Reference (TOR) provided by the designated hiring office. These tasks will be aligned with the operational needs and strategic priorities of the assigned FAO department or project. Responsibilities may include supporting research, data collection and analysis, assisting in the implementation of field activities, contributing to reports and communication materials, and participating in team meetings. The volunteer is expected to actively engage in their assigned duties, demonstrating a commitment to FAO's values and contributing to the achievement of project and organizational goals within the scope of their TOR.
Work Experience
While specific work experience is not a mandatory minimum requirement beyond secondary education, candidates are encouraged to highlight any relevant working or research experience in fields related to FAO's mandate. This experience, if available, will be considered an asset in the selection process, demonstrating a candidate's practical understanding and engagement with the organization's areas of focus.
