Organizational Context
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is dedicated to defeating hunger and ensuring food security globally. Operating in over 130 countries with more than 195 Members, FAO strives for sustainable agri-food systems to improve production, nutrition, the environment, and quality of life. The FAO Regular Volunteer Programme actively engages citizens from Member nations to contribute to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and FAO's Strategic Framework, aiming to leave no one behind in the pursuit of ending hunger and malnutrition.
Job Purpose
This volunteer role is designed to support FAO's mission by assigning the individual to a field of work that aligns with the organization's objectives and ongoing initiatives. The volunteer will gain practical experience within a relevant sector, contributing to FAO's efforts in areas such as food security, sustainable agriculture, and rural development. This opportunity aims to provide a meaningful contribution to the organization's strategic goals while offering the volunteer a chance to develop their skills and understanding of international development work within a multicultural environment.
Responsibilities
The volunteer will be responsible for executing tasks and functions as detailed in the specific Terms of Reference (TOR) provided by the hiring office. This will involve actively participating in projects and activities relevant to the assigned field, contributing to the achievement of team and organizational objectives. Responsibilities may include data collection and analysis, research support, report drafting, assisting with event organization, and other duties as assigned. The volunteer is expected to adhere to FAO's values and professional standards, demonstrating commitment, respect, and integrity in all aspects of their work, and contributing to a collaborative and effective working environment.
Work Experience
While specific work experience is not a mandatory minimum requirement beyond secondary education, candidates are encouraged to highlight any relevant working or research experience in fields related to the Organization's mandate. This experience, coupled with the required language proficiency and adaptability to a multicultural environment, will be considered in the assessment process.
Skills

Candidates should also possess relevant working or research experience in one of the Organization's fields.
