Organizational Context

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is dedicated to defeating hunger and achieving food security globally. Job Purpose

The volunteer will be assigned to a specific field that aligns with the core mission and ongoing work of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). This placement is designed to provide practical experience and contribute to FAO's objectives in areas such as food security, sustainable agriculture, and rural development. The role will offer exposure to international efforts in these critical sectors, allowing the volunteer to apply their skills and gain valuable insights into the organization's global impact and operational strategies.

Responsibilities

The volunteer will undertake specific functions as detailed in the Terms of Reference (TOR) provided by the respective hiring office. These responsibilities will be tailored to the needs of the assigned project or department, contributing directly to FAO's operational goals. Tasks may include research, data collection and analysis, report writing, supporting project implementation, and assisting with communication activities. The volunteer is expected to perform duties diligently, adhering to professional standards and contributing effectively to the team's objectives within the scope of the TOR.

Work Experience

While specific work experience is not a mandatory minimum requirement beyond secondary education, candidates are encouraged to highlight any relevant working or research experience in fields related to the Organization's mandate. This experience, coupled with the required language skills and adaptability to a multicultural setting, will be considered in the assessment process.
