Organizational Context

Job Purpose
To support the implementation and formulation of projects aimed at enhancing the competitiveness of strategic agri-value chains in Sudan. This involves piloting agri-food value chain transformation hubs, training smallholder farmers and SMEs, and fostering participation in local and regional value chains, building on previous UNIDO interventions.
Responsibilities
Assist in project implementation and formulation in Sudan; design, appraise, and present project proposals; monitor program execution and implement corrective actions; analyze economic, social, and political factors affecting development programs; assess development needs and appraise project suitability; identify project possibilities aligned with governmental needs and donor priorities; introduce new modalities and evaluation methods; guide and coordinate project proposal drafting; expedite operational document submission; provide technical advice to consultants, personnel, donors, and governments; develop project execution plans; exchange information with government officials and donor agencies; monitor project execution through reports and reviews; organize project briefings and debriefings; support field teams with administrative and technical requests; ensure financial record-keeping for donor verification and auditing; assess project execution, identify problems, and propose corrective actions.
Work Experience
Minimum of seven years of professional experience in technical cooperation project management or portfolio project management, with international exposure. Experience in researching and analyzing information, linking it to organizational strategy, and recommending solutions. Proven ability to write clearly and concisely. Desirable experience includes working in multicultural teams, evaluating developing country needs, familiarity with food systems and food security in Africa, UN system experience, knowledge of the international development agenda, climate change, sustainable livelihoods, and UNIDO project management cycles/SAP.
