The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) is a specialized agency promoting industrial development for poverty reduction, inclusive globalization, and environmental sustainability. UNIDO's mission, aligned with the 2030 Agenda and SDG-9, focuses on promoting and accelerating inclusive and sustainable industrial development in Member States. The Directorate of Global Partnerships and External Relations (GLO) manages UNIDO's external relations and oversees regional bureaus and field offices. The Division of Regional Bureaus and Field Coordination (GLO/RFO) coordinates UNIDO's field representation, develops regional strategies and country programming, and optimizes field operations.
Job Purpose
To provide strategic leadership and management for the Division of Regional Bureaus and Field Coordination, overseeing UNIDO's global field network and regional operations. The role involves strengthening UNIDO's global presence, meeting Member State needs, increasing political engagement, streamlining programmatic approaches, and building multi-stakeholder partnerships to advance inclusive and sustainable industrial development.
Responsibilities
Manage the Regional Bureaus by providing strategic coordination, leadership for regional strategies, and guidance on country programming. Coordinate the UNIDO Field network, ensuring effective operations, resource management, and collaboration between field offices and headquarters. Provide strategic leadership for the Division, manage human and financial resources, ensure robust management controls, enable organizational coordination, support senior leadership, and drive innovation and Results-Based Management.
Work Experience
Minimum 15 years of relevant professional experience with a Bachelor's degree (12 years with Master's, 10 years with Doctorate). This includes progressively responsible experience at national and international levels, with at least 5 years in a senior managerial position. Experience in leadership, high-level negotiations, managing field operations or regional coordination, and familiarity with UN Development System (UNDS) reform are required. Experience in building relationships with governments, UN entities, donors, and stakeholders is essential.
