UNIDO's mandate focuses on poverty reduction, inclusive globalization, and environmental sustainability. The Directorate of Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Industrial Development (TCS) oversees strategies and interventions in areas like environment, energy, MSMEs, and digitalization, contributing to SDG achievement through industrial policy advice and capacity development. The Division of MSME Competitiveness, Quality and Job Creation (TCS/SME) specifically works to enhance the competitiveness of industries in developing countries, particularly MSMEs, through technology transfer, innovation, productivity improvement, and quality infrastructure development.
Job Purpose
To provide technical support for the smooth and timely execution of projects aimed at enhancing food safety and quality infrastructure in Sri Lanka, contributing to a more productive, sustainable, and market-oriented agri-food sector.
Responsibilities
Execute and monitor project implementation, ensuring quality and timely delivery within budget. Coordinate project activities, including supervising consultants and partners, preparing project inputs, and managing progress and expenditures. Manage external relations with stakeholders, including government institutions, donors, and the private sector. Support advocacy and communication activities to strengthen public relations and disseminate project information. Contribute to fund mobilization strategies for follow-up projects. Perform other related duties as required.
Work Experience
A minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience with a Bachelor's degree, 5 years with a Master's degree, or 3 years with a Doctorate. Experience in technical cooperation in developing countries, providing technical assistance in value chain development, trade competitiveness, or quality infrastructure support is required. Experience in evaluating needs and problems in developing countries, and in conceptualizing/implementing multi-country or multi-partner projects is also required. Experience in all project cycle phases, socio-economic analysis, indicator development, impact monitoring, knowledge management systems, and UN project implementation/field experience are desirable.
