Organizational Context
The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) serves as the Regional Office for the Americas of the World Health Organization (WHO).
Job Purpose
To conduct a comprehensive territorial diagnosis in Jalapa, Guatemala, focusing on health conditions and the health system's response capacity, particularly for the prevention, screening, diagnosis, and treatment of congenital Chagas and other mother-to-child transmitted infections (HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B) under the ETMI-Plus strategy.
Responsibilities
Coordinate the consultancy with national and local health teams, including the National Chagas Subprogram and Jalapa health teams. Validate tools for qualitative and quantitative data collection. Conduct interviews with health personnel in situ at the DDRISS Jalapa. Facilitate focus groups with health personnel and traditional birth attendants (comadronas). Present diagnostic results and recommendations to local health authorities. Develop a detailed work plan for the consultancy. Prepare progress reports for both quantitative and qualitative components. Produce a final report that includes a detailed description of quantitative and qualitative results, a summary of focus group findings, and recommendations for intervention.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of experience conducting quantitative and/or qualitative studies is essential. Experience in systematizing and preparing high-quality technical documents is desirable.
Skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work in multidisciplinary teams. Proven skills in collecting, organizing, analyzing historical and epidemiological information graphically and synthetically. Proficiency in computer packages (Windows, Microsoft Office, Internet, Outlook) and statistical programs. Experience in epidemiological data management and analysis. Ability to prepare reports and technical documents. Collaborative leadership and ability to contribute strategically to multisectoral decision-making. Willingness to learn new skills and techniques.
Required Languages
Fluency in Spanish.
Desired Languages
Working knowledge of Mayan languages.
